Controlled unidirectional reflection in cold atoms via the spatial Kramers-Kronig relation

چکیده
We propose a model for realizing frequency-dependent spatial variations of the probe susceptibility in cold atomic sample. It is found that usual Kramers-Kronig (KK) relation between real and imaginary parts frequency domain can be mapped into space as far detuned control field intensity linearly varied used. This non-Hermitian medium exhibits then unidirectional reflectionless band photons incident from either left or right sample end. special interest we tune well choose direction corresponding to vanishing reflectivity by changing, respectively, frequency. The nonzero other typically small realistic densities, but largely enhanced incorporating Bragg scattering KK so achieve high contrast.

Spatial Kramers–Kronig relations and the reflection of waves
When a planar dielectric medium has a permittivity profile that is an analytic function in the upper or lower half of the complex position plane x = x′+ ix′′ then the real and imaginary parts of its permittivity are related by the spatial Kramers-Kronig relations. We find that such a medium won’t reflect radiation incident from one side, whatever the angle of incidence. Using the spatial Kramer...
متن کاملEntanglement of atoms via cold controlled collisions
The controlled manipulation of entangled states of N particle systems is fundamental to the study of basic aspects of quantum theory [1,2], and provides the basis of applications such as quantum computing and quantum communications [3,4]. Engineering entanglement in real physical systems requires precise control of the Hamiltonian operations and a high degree of coherence. Achieving these condi...
متن کاملKramers-Kronig relations in nonlinear optics
We review dispersion relations, which relate the real part of the optical susceptibility (refraction) to the imaginary part (absorption). We derive and discuss these relations as applied to nonlinear optical systems. It is shown that in the nonlinear case, for self-action effects the correct form for such dispersion relations is nondegenerate, i.e. it is necessary to use multiple frequency argu...
متن کاملMagneto-optical Kramers-Kronig analysis.
We describe a simple magneto-optical experiment and introduce a magneto-optical Kramers-Kronig analysis (MOKKA) that together allow extracting the complex dielectric function for left- and right-handed circular polarizations in a broad range of frequencies without actually generating circularly polarized light. The experiment consists of measuring reflectivity and Kerr rotation, or alternativel...
متن کاملCausality, Kramers-Kronig Relations, and Landau Damping
We review the consequence of the causality in electrodynamics. The Kramers-Kronig relations are direct consequence of causality which has two ingredients: no perturbation in the remote past and irrelevance of future susceptibility to the present field. It is shown that the dielectric function obtained from the integration along the Landau contour can be derived from the Kramers-Kronig relations...
